Born in Normandy, France, Laetitia Casta is the second of three children. Her father, Dominique, is of Corsican descent and was raised on the rugged Corsican coast until his family moved to Normandy when he was still a boy. It was there that he met Laetitia's mother, Line, who was also born and bought up in Normandy.
At 15 Laetitia was elected Miss Lumio, which is the little Corsican village where her father was born. A few days later she was spotted on a beach by a photographer and a Paris agent. She convinced her father to take her to the modelling agency in Paris for some test shots where the agent saw in about half a second that Laetitia had something rare and special to offer, so she was immediately taken to meet the casting director at FRENCH ELLE, and that's how it all began.
Laetitia has been on hundreds of magazine covers including VOGUE, MARIE CLAIRE, ELLE and even on the August 1998 cover of ROLLING STONE.
Laetitia's first major advertising campaign was for GUESS?, introducing her to the American market, as well as, launching her career worldwide.
In 1996, she signed a major contract with intimate apparel giant VICTORIA'S SECRET and, in 1998, was named one of the company's five ANGELS. In that same period, Laetitia made three appearances in the SPORTS ILLUSTRATED Swimsuit Issue, giving her additional exposure in the US.
In 1999, Laetitia was named as model for the MARIANNE, the allegorical symbol of the French Republic, succeeding model Ines de la Fressange.
Photographer Herb Ritts chose Laetitia to represent the 50's in the 1999 PIRELLI calendar entitled "Women through the decades", and the following year was cast again for the 2000 edition by Annie Leibovitz.
During her modelling career Laetitia has featured in many ad campaigns including MIU MIU, ALBERTA FERRETTI, DANIEL SWAROVSKI, PEPE JEANS, PHARD, KOOKAI, TOMMY HILFIGER, EMANUEL UNGARO and, notably, was the testimonial for Promesse by CACHAREL, GALLERIES LAFAYETTE, Allure by CHANEL and, since 1998, has had a multi-year contract with L'OREAL. One of the highlights of her fashion career was the collaboration she developed with haute couture master YVES SAINT LAURENT, who chose her to wear the wedding dress he created for the grand finale of the show celebrating his 40th anniversary in couture. In 2008 RALPH LAUREN chose Laetitia as testimonial for the advertising launch of his new perfume Notorious.
In 1999, Laetitia moved on to acting. She was in ASTERIX ET OBELIX CONTRE CESAR with Gerard Depardieu and Roberto Begnini, GITANO with Joaquin Cortes, THE BLUE BICYCLE, which was adapted from the book by Regine Des Forges, RUE DES PLAISIRS by Patrice Le Conte, SAVAGE SOULS by Raul Ruiz - adapted from Jean Giono, the Indie film ERRANCE by Damien Odoul with Benoit Magimel, the TV mini-series LUISA SAN FELICE by the Taviani brothers - adapted from Alexandre Dumas, LE GRAND APPARTEMENT directed by Pascal Thomas, LA JEUNE FILLE ET LES LOUPS alongside Stefano Accorsi and directed by Gilles Legrand, and NES EN 68 directed by Oliveir Ducastel and Jacques Martineau.
In 2004, Laetita also experimented herself in theatre and took on the leading role in ONDINE, a classic play by Jean Giraudoux.
Laetitia now lives in Paris with her boyfriend the Italian actor Stefano Accorsi, her daughter Satheene and their children Athena and Orlando.
